Cerebrovascular Accident

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize the high prevalence of stroke, and how Physician practitioners in virtually every discipline may be called upon to identify, manage, or prevent strokes.
  • Explain how to most accurately diagnose acute stroke in the hyper-acute phase of onset.
  • Give examples and explain key interventions reducing death and disability from acute stroke.
  • Define the components of a stroke systems of care model, appreciating that such systems of care models may be applied to other disease entities.
  • Walk away from the learning activity with an understanding of how to manage a stroke alert in the early hyper-acute phase.
